Define the IES Files

Our next step will be to define the luminaires to be used in our project. In this case we will use two luminaires with permission from Holophane, an Acuity Brands company. Luminaire design is constantly evolving and these files/products may be obsolete. Always check with the manufacturer before using any photometric data in real projects. The IES files have been provided in the AGi32 Street Lighting folder.

  • From the Luminaire Toolkit, select the Define button.
  • Inside the Define dialog, click on the Browse/Recent button.
  • Navigate to the AGi32 Street Lighting\IES Files folder.
  • Window across both IES files (there are only two) to select them.
  • Click OK.

AGi32 will open the Smart Symbols dialog for each luminaire. For the first luminaire , LEDG_072...

  • Select the Pole Arm mounting.
  • Select Pole Arm-Rectangular 1 symbol.
  • Add an Arm Length of 1 meter.
  • The Insertion Point options are fine as set by default (no changes).

For the second luminaire, LEDG_084...

  • Select the Pole Arm mounting.
  • Select Pole Arm-Circular 1 symbol.
  • Add an Arm Length of 1 meter.
  • The Insertion Point options are fine as set by default (no changes).

Both luminaire definitions are now ready to use, but before we leave we will set a Light Loss Factor for both luminaires. We can do this in one operation as follows:

  • Select both definitions in the grid on the left side of the dialog by using Shift-click (or Ctrl-click) technique.
  • Right-click anywhere in the blue selection area to open the menu.
  • Select the Change LLF item.
  • Enter 0.8 in the pop-up dialog.
  • Exit the Define dialog (click OK).
